During 2019, Planet Money was my go-to podcast.
Planet Money is a podcast produced by NPR. Usually, each episode is a human-interest story that exemplifies an interesting economic principle. The episode will go in depth into a particular event, phenomena, or story. To help tell they story, they interview people from the event. They also relate the story back to the underlying economic principles, often with the help of some commentary from economic researchers. This style of podcast is great for beginners as it produces very entertaining and educational episodes.
I highly recommend this podcast to people just becoming interested in economics, money, and decision making. Becoming obsessed with economics for a year will give you a new way of thinking about quantitative decision making. You will also learn about how other people and organization make decisions, and that even seemingly illogical decisions can be very rational on a closer look. Eventually, I would expect people to grow out of the podcast and pursue something more rigorous, or applicable to their career.
